The morning sun filtered through the ancient trees of the Whispering Woods, casting dappled shadows across the forest floor. Elara Moonwhisper stood at the edge of the clearing, her breath visible in the crisp morning air. The silver pendant around her neck—her grandmother's last gift—glowed faintly with an ethereal light.

She had been searching for three days now, following the cryptic instructions left in her grandmother's journal. The Shard of Eternity had to be here, somewhere in these woods. It was the only way to save Silvermere from the encroaching darkness that threatened to consume the realm.

A twig snapped behind her. Elara spun around, her hand instinctively moving to the dagger at her belt.

"Easy there, young mage," came a gravelly voice from the shadows. A figure emerged—tall, cloaked, with piercing amber eyes. "I mean you no harm."

"The Wanderer," Elara breathed, recognizing the legendary guide from the tales. "You're real."

"As real as the danger you're walking into," he replied, his gaze stern. "Lord Vexar's forces patrol these woods. The Shard calls to those who would use its power for evil."

Elara's grip on her dagger tightened. "Then we must reach it first."
